Thanksgiving Mass and Refreshments at St Mary's Cathedral celebrated by Bishop Don Sproxton
Let's start National Vocations Awareness Week 2024 with a Thanksgiving Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral, celebrated by The Most Reverend Donald Sproxton, Auxiliary Bishop of Perth, along with Rectors and seminarians from St Charles and Redemptoris Mater Seminaries.
Our Thanksgiving Mass is part of a series of engaging activities and resources to celebrate National Vocations Awareness Week 2024, from Sunday, 4 August to Sunday, 11 August. The week offers a unique opportunity for our Catholic community to explore and support each other’s vocations journey.
Mass begins at 11am, followed by refreshments. If you are able to join us for this mass, please register (essential) for catering purposes.
Vocations themed Common Ground with Catholic Youth Ministry
Catholic young adults are invited to join a Vocations themed Common Ground at the Catholic Pastoral Centre at Highgate on Wednesday 7 August 2024 with Catholic Youth Ministry.
Please register to book your spot using the Register button below. RSVP is a must.
The event will include:
- 6:00pm –Adoration at the Chapel.
- 7:00pm – Thanksgiving Vocations Mass with our Vocations Director, Fr Joseph Laundy.
- 8:00pm – BBQ Dinner. Finish the night as we gather to share a delicious meal and enjoy each other's company.
Spiritual Formation Evening for Those Discerning Into Ordained Ministry
Men aged 17+ are invited to a special evening at St Charles Seminary to learn about "The Richness of Religious Life" with Fr Adalbert Imperial, Order of the Discalced Carmelites. Join us for an inspiring and enriching experience, as part of National Vocations Awareness Week 2024 .

Friendly and Fun Soccer Tournament (supported by Football West)
You are invited to join St Charles and Redemptoris Mater seminarians, Catholic Youth Ministry and our community members for a friendly game of soccer at the Sam Kerr Football Centre in Queens Park, as part of our National Vocations Awareness Week celebrations!
Whether you're a seasoned player or just want to have some fun, everyone is welcome to join in. We'll place you in a team (5-7ppl per team) and you'll play friendly 15-minute, 5-aside games against each team.
If you're keen to just get involved and help us cheer, we'd love to have you there as an audience member.

Week long Vocations Awareness Week activities

Little Sisters of the Poor: Discernment Retreat
This is a weekend retreat for young women who are discerning their vocation. The event will be held at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Glendalough. This is a wonderful opportunity to also get involved in National Vocations Awareness Week 2024, coinciding with the feast of the country’s first saint: St Mary of the Cross MacKillop.
Vocations Quiz
Name three of Fr Francis' recommended reading list, who is the patron saint for priests?, what is the name of the St Charles Seminary magazine and how often does it come out for reading? These are some of the Vocations Quiz questions you will encounter if you take up the quiz challenge.
The quiz is available until midnight, 11 August 2024. Three winners will be randomly selected to win a prize from the Perth Vocations Office. Good luck.
